Exploring PMC Sterling and Resin

I’ve been working a lot with PMC Sterling lately and it’s been so exciting. Exploring the strength of new sterling, making sterling flexible clay, lots and lots of carving. Plus I’ve been exploring new ways to work with resin. Well… new to my work, using copper and gold leaf and embedding watch gears. I love how the gears look like they are floating! Great to be back in the studio. Here is a new class that I’ll be teaching at Aftosa that is the result of my explorations.

They do look like they’re floating! I love it. How are the watch parts attached and were they attached post firing?

    1. The watch parts were embedded in the resin after. Lay down a layer of resin and let it dry. Then add the watch parts, then more resin. Working in layers allows you to secure the parts and add more layers without disturbing the other layers.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing that detailed info. Your work is beautiful and inspirational!

  2. Gorgeous. I started playing with resin and pmc last year, but I went the botanical route, creating little reliquary pieces with blossoms inside pmc frames. I just ordered your book, and can’t wait to see how it inspires me!
