Hot technique or tip: for consistent repetition of a shape or design, make your own stencils, draw the shape on paper, laminate and use a very sharp craft knife to cut it out

WEEK 11: Woodland Chic Design Explorations
Materials: Metal Clay
Title of the piece: Spirit
Size: Approx 4cm in diameter
Materials: PMC
Techniques used to create the piece: The piece was made in component parts and assembled in dry construction. First the locket walls, back & front frame. Opening domed front. The hinge, then the bail. With the addition of a mould of the face of the green man.
Biographical info – I trained in fashion design and textiles, taking an interest in many different arts and craft, I started teaching for local colleges and adult learning, during that time, I found, by happy accident Metal Clay, since then I have dedicated my all, to my own development of working with this material. It has been my absolute passion. I regular write project articles for a UK Jewellery making magazine with more than 45 published articles. I have also had images of my work included in Books Hattie Sanderson’s new Contemporary rings and Sue Heaser’ s Metal clay techniques. I was delighted to be asked to act as a juror for Holly Gages 2012 Calendar entries, I operate my own studio East Yorkshire, England teaching myself and inviting world class artist to teach, but also travel far and wide myself both in the UK and into Europe to teach and to promote my courses.
