Prepping for Arrowmont – Check out this video

I’m busy prepping this week for my upcoming trip to Arrowmont. This special place in Gatlinburg, TN is a haven of artistic creativity in the Smokey Mountains. This time I’ll be teaching R.A.D. (Ring a Day) in metal clay! Based off of the popular flickr group Ring A Day. Ring a Week was the follow up the next year . I joined the Ring a Week and failed miserably making only 4 or 5 rings. Truth be told I made many rings last year, maybe even 52 but haven’t had the time or energy to photograph them and post them. Be that as it may, I decided to make up for it during this workshop at Arrowmont. 🙂

The last time I taught at Arrowmont my class and I participated in shooting a stop motion video. The video showcases the different art departments at Arrowmont and we were lucky enough to represent the metals department! Check out the video which features the hands of my students making a pendant that was auctioned off at a fundraiser for Arrowmont. My hands were at the end brass brushing the piece. Also in the video my friend Mary Hettmansperger hands, she was teaching her basket making class. Look for her hands as well!

  1. This is a fantastic book full of insairption. I haven’t been able to put it down and can’t wait to try the designs. I’ve been struggling with the bronze clay but thanks to the tips in this book, I’m sure I will have a much easier time of it.

  2. Just found your blog. Thank you for the great week at Arrowmont. I just put in an order for Cool Tools for more supplies to make rings. I have gained so much confidence in my PMC designs. I fired 2 containers of Bronze and when I finish up those pieces I will get to work on the rings. I plan to expand on the “strap” design. That was a big hit at my studio.
