So, I found my 7th grade project which was my very first experience with glaze. I had forgotten about this experience. Yes …I still have it. One of the benefits of living in your childhood home is having access to a box (or two, or three or more) full of memories. A little beaten up, my “Frankenstein” ceramic bell, complete with hand woven macrame cord, and a real bolt to act as the bell’s clanger! Oh, and a couple of antennae on top of his head for an added touch of creativity and no doubt some extra super powers that the original Frankenstein did not have. The ravages of time have broken off the antennae and a few of his teeth. Who knows why mom decide to keep this masterpiece instead of my “Keep on Trucking” silkscreened T-Shirt that I made in the same art class. Thinking back though, I do remember that I couldn’t wait to get to class the next day to see the results of my hard work. Seems like things haven’t changed much in that regard.
