Hot technique or tip: In addition to using toothpicks to apply patina in tight spots, sand dry clay, and enlarge holes – My dirty little secret is to use saliva to wet sand. Whether with my pinky, a toothpick (surprise) or on clean sandpaper, saliva has the perfect sticky consistency to lightly smooth clay in delicate situations.
Favorite tool: My fingers. Or if you want to spend money – a #3 Golden Taklon Brush and plastic sanding needles from the model train store. Or PMCConnection.com
Biographical info: In addition to being a Senior Instructor and the Artistic Advisor for PMC Connection, I’m a regular contributor to Metal Clay Artist Magazine, and had been fortunate to have images of my work featured in too many publications to mention here.
