I’ve been getting some emails regarding MiraVos SF so I thought I would take this chance to clarify. A couple of months ago I made the difficult decision to leave my position at MiraVos SF. A variety of factors contributed to this decision, some of which are private. However, words like passion keep coming into play.
Someone once told me that the idea of something is often times better than the reality of it. Truer words where never spoken. While the thought of throngs of consumers wearing one of my designs sounded good at first, the reality is that I’m not a mass production designer. I don’t design for the masses. My work is very personal and I think of it as wearable sculpture, it’s not be watered down to meet the tastes of most consumers. It can be very labor intensive and that is ok. I love the idea that I have this personal relationship with every piece I make. When someone buys my work they are buying a part of me, not a production line of artisans, just me. My work doesn’t pass through a chorus line of hands, just mine. Don’t get me wrong, I do have help around the studio, but the work I sell and the ideas for workshops are all my vision. I’m passionate about creating one-of-kind pieces. Someone said to me, “Of course you are not a mass production designer, YOU are an artist, why fight it” and she was right. Why fight it.
The same is true for when I teach classes and workshops. I enjoy the personal interaction with my students. I give them my all, because I want them to have the best experience possible. Most of all I’m passionate about teaching.
To everyone who supported me when I was starting MiraVos I appreciate the orders, the votes on AhaLife and most of all supporting what I was doing. While I no longer have any involvement with MiraVos I leave knowing that I’m content in my decision. Leaving MiraVos allows me to spend more time with my family. My mother is now 91 years old. It also allows me to spend more time in the areas that I enjoy, creating one-of-a-kind pieces, teaching workshops and on-line classes and interacting with my wonderful students. Thanks again for your support and all the best to Roxanne at MiraVos.
