Christmas is a double edged sword. I love decorating the house with all the trimmings, but I really don’t like having to drag out all of the dusty boxes down from the rafters of the garage, unpacking everything, hauling them into the house. I just like the fun stuff. Arranging and making beautiful vignettes. Making things look pretty. But with out fail, every year I look forward to opening my special box of gold leaf. Ok I really mean gold “leaves”.
Many years ago I was inspired by a Martha Stewart article where she spray painted various holiday items gold. Gold pumpkins where at the top of the cool list. BUT the fall leaves spray painted gold were MY favorite. They are the perfect addition to the Christmas tree and tablescape.
A simple elegant improvement to mother nature. Woodland Chic light years before Woodland Chic even entered my brain. I didn’t know it at the time but I guess it help inform my vision. Now… 15 years later! I still love the gold leaves. Tucked perfectly into the tree, no hangers needed, just elegantly tucked between the branches.
This year if want to revamp the idea. I have a vision of how to improve on this classic theme. Stay tuned…
