Spent part of the doing experiments using Linda Kaye-Moses doming tool . I usually don’t use tools like this in my designs but I thought I would give it a try. I’m glad I did!!! At first I tried the usual cone shapes, then progressed to a bi-cone bead shape. The tool was really easy to use and made making these shape a breeze! I am glad that Linda suggested that I try it. The variety of sizes of cones is quite versatile. The only draw back was that it didn’t fit into my dehydrator, but that is an easy fit, buy a new dehydrator! Next I tried to break out of the usual designs and try something different. First, I made a standard cone shape, dried it, then I used a jewelers saw to cut diagonally into the cone shape. I cut it into 3 pieces. Then I carved each of the pieces inside and out. I assembled the pieces into each other onto a circle piece. Surprise, surprise …a cone cut on a diagonal becomes a oval. SO I had to make an oval base to fit the pieces into. Although it’s hard to tell from the photo the cone parts actually sit at an angle. I can’t wait to make more designs using the tool! I love it! I almost forgot! I used it to make a BronzClay piece. It’s the 3rd photo down on the right side of the page under “New works in Bronze.”
