At the PMC Conference BronzClay was being introduced to the general public. The workshop was with one of my jewelry heros Celie Fago. When I was first exploring PMC I stumbled across her work and she opened my eyes…”Oh…THIS is what you can do with this stuff!!!!” Until then most things that I saw were just ok, some things were good, a very few great things, but Celie’s work blew my socks off. So when I found out that she was leading this workshop I was thrilled. A lot of instructors there Donna Lewis, Nancy Miller, Lisa Cain from the UK, Robert Dancik, Jen Kahn and many others were there. It was exciting to be surrounded by so much creativity. Plus to be part of the first workshop for BC was a thrill. Although BC is different from PMC, it was similar enough that it was easy to pick up the concepts, but challenging because I didn’t know how to work with the BC as proficiently as I do with PMC. With PMC I know how far to push the limits of the material but BC I had to re-learn those limits. Frustrating, but exiting. 2 really cool things, BC carves like a dream, and it’s flexible in the bone dry stage! Below are the other items I made during the 2 days. The large links in the bracelet above different textures on the front and back and I hand carved the sides. I kind of went a little crazy experimenting with carving, because EVERY link was a different pattern using a different carving tool!
