Woodland Chic Design Exploration 10 – Donna Lewis

This weeks featured artist is Donna Lewis! I’ve admired Donna’s work for some time now and I was so thrilled that she joined the Woodland Chic Design Team.  Donna’s creative take on the task was to make a mold from the texture plate. By making a mold of the Woodland Chic Texture plate she was able to reverse the typical “innie” impression and change it to an “outie”. This also changed the usually crisp to impression to an softer and yet rustic quality. ( A word of caution, be sure to test your mold compound on an inconspicuous part of the texture sheet. Some mold compounds will actually adhere to the rubber and not release. ) Next Donna embedded Argentium wire to create posts for the pearls. To me the pearls added a soft, controlled counterpoint to the earrings. Great job Donna!

I also want to give a props to Donna for creating Lil Bella metal clay humidifier. It really does work exceptionally well. If you’ve taken a class with me you know that I raved about this product. I think primarily because I thought I didn’t need it, but now that I have it I love it and can’t see having a studio without one! ( no I don’t get commission,  🙂  I just like sharing things that actually WORK! )
