Woodland Chic Design Exploration Week 5

JK McDowell - Woodland Chic Design Team

Well another week, another wonderful project from a member of the Woodland Chic Design Team!

Last week I was traveling so I missed posting Week 5. As a result, I’ll be posting Week 5 today and Week 6 tomorrow. Both are fabulous !

Part of the designs teams challenge was to show how the Woodland Chic Texture Sheet works in other media besides metal clay. We’ve already seen examples in polymer from Ronna Sarvas Weltman’s wonderful bracelet. This week J.K. uses stamping and book arts techniques to create this wonderful, magical design.

I have to admit when I got this project in the mail I was immediately obsessed! Maybe in part because I love the book arts, maybe because it was not jewelry, but probably because of it’s sheer beauty! J.K.’s use of color and materials are the perfect combination. Couple this with his creative use of the Woodland Chic Texture Sheet. J.K. uses traditional rubber stamping techniques to make an impression onto paper, then enlarged the design on a copy machine, then printed it out on vellum. The resulting design was fantastic. This technique can also be achieved on the computer as well. Take close look at the hand painted paper as well, I  love the layered look.

Tomorrow Melissa Cable shows us her designs!
