oops!

If you ordered the Woodland Chic Texture Sheet for the CraftCast promotion recently I have to apologize. When the back order came in I wanted to get them in mail ASAP.  In my excitement I totally forgot to put in the Idea Kits!!! In the last batch that I sent out I couldn’t tell who got the kits and who didn’t. So rather than play email tag with a couple dozen people, I remailed everyone on the last back order a new set of the Idea Kits. If you didn’t get the idea kit, just know that they are in the mail as of yesterday. If you got duplicates then keep them and give them to friends!

Sorry for any confusion this might have caused.

Thanks!

Patrik

  1. I have the Idea Cards and I am a bit disappointed. It is nice to share how something is constructed but useless to me if I can’t figure out how to do it as well. Such as: extruded rolled edge detail! Where do I find out how to use this technique? And sorry, but I don’t think the tips were worth it. The pictures and card concept is nice. I am eager to use the texture sheet.

    1. Vickie,
I’m so sorry you are disappointed with the Idea Kit. The concept of the Idea Kit is to present the reader different ideas to pursue. It was designed to give people a high level view of the different techniques that are possible with the texture sheet, to show it’s versatility. Most of the construction ideas that were presented are readily available through different media, be it books, the internet or on-line classes. Although it would be nice, the Idea Kit was not meant to be a step-by-step guide on how to produce the designs in the kit. That would require a full book. I’m sorry that you felt the tips where not worth it either. The artists were asked to give me their favorite tips. The tips are ones that they feel are valuable to them and ones that they share with their students and colleagues. My favorite tip is Donna Penoyer’s. How to flatten out a warped piece of bone dry clay. Yes, bone dry. When I heard the technique I was skeptical, so skeptical I had to try it immediately. I did, and it worked. It was magical to me that the clay didn’t break or shatter. I use the technique all the time and it has proved a huge time saver. In regards to the “extruded rolled edge detail” An extrusion is made with a metal clay extruder, one brand name is Makins. Use the circle tip and extrude the clay onto the edge of another piece of clay. Here is a great video to give you an idea of how to use an extruder. Although the video shows how to extrude a tube instead of a solid, the process is relatively the same. Anyhow, I hope this addresses some of your comments. I am happy you are eager to use the texture sheet and I hope to see some photos of your work!
Thanks for you comments they are appreciated.
